Angire Wood
Anigre wood is sometimes described as a replacement for cherry. Most plain anigre is produced quartered, because of that, , you can put a cherry stain on it and get wide, quartered veneer that looks like cherry quarters when it is finished. The reason for doing this is because of the widths available in Angire. Cherry trees don't grow to the size of anigre trees. Angire is a tan heartwood with an occasional wavy appearance running through it. it has a Cedar-like scent and is medium to coarse in texture; but in heavier grades, has a fine texture. Used for fine furniture, cabinets, light construction, high-class joiner. It comes from a tall tropical hardwood tree, found in Guinea, Sierra Leone, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola and Zaire.
